Electronic Business | Printer-friendly version | Electronic Business harnesses computer and communication technologies in order to support business processes. This concept is not new, but the widespread availability of the Internet has accelerated the use of telecommunications and changed the nature of the exchange in the areas of information, services, money, and products.
While the Internet has influenced all functional areas of business, the most dramatic impact has been in new forms of marketing, supply chain management and information systems that extend beyond traditional organisational boundaries. Consequently, the Electronic Business major complements studies in either Marketing or Information Management, enhancing those areas with the specialized knowledge required for today’s business world. |
| Course Outline
Level 1 In level 1 you will study three compulsory introductory business units and five elective units. If you have not studied Information Systems at TEE level then one of your electives will be an Information Systems unit.
Level 2 and 3 Compulsory units across levels 2 and 3 which will develop your understanding of business and information technology. You will also have the opportunity to select some elective units.
Your experience will be enhanced in ways that challenge and train you for the reality of e-commerce employment. You will have the opportunity to participate in the World Championship of E-Business Pitches. This is a competition between groups of students, based on the premise that you have Bill Gates as a captive audience in a lift for two minutes. A panel of industry judges comments on all of the pitches, but only the best appear in the final, which is a public, ticket-only event held annually.
